In 2011/2012, Dover Park Hospice added 20% to our in-hospice capacity so that we can care for more patients, and also rolled out our home care team to provide end-of-life care to patients who wish to remain at home. These efforts could only have been made possible by the generous support we receive from donors and volunteers, like yourself. The increase in patient intake and outreach means that our operating expenditure has increased significantly, with a projected annual expenditure of $9.2 million for FY 2012/2013.
As a large proportion of our patients are subsidized by the hospice, we rely on donations to continue to fund our ability to care for the terminally ill. The main fundraising event for this year will be our annual Sunflower Ball, through which we are hoping to raise S$1 million.
To mark our new initiatives in home hospice care, and because we try to make our hospice a home away from home for our patients so that their last days can be spent in comfort and surrounded by those they love, the theme for this year's Sunflower Ball is "Heart and Home". Singapore Chef Willin Low, whose Modern Singapore cuisine has been feted by the New York Times, will be collaborating with the culinary team at the Shangri-La Hotel to bring us special dishes reminiscent of home. Dinner will also feature snacks and specialties from our childhood days.
We are also pleased that our Patron, President Tony Tan Keng Yam, has agreed to grace the occasion as our Guest of Honour.
We hope that we will have the pleasure of your company and support at this year's Dover Park Hospice Sunflower Ball. Should you wish to support this event by taking a table or by making a donation, please contact Ms Hilary Teo at 6500 0642 or email email@example.com for a booking / donation form.
Thank you very much for your continued generous support for this important cause. Because Every Moment Matters.
