Come 1st June 2013, a group of individuals will be taking on 42km / 21km / 10km challenges in the annual Sundown Marathon Event. Led by Medical Officer Dr Ong Eng Koon, who did a rotation at Dover Park Hospice previously, the team is running for a different purpose this year round. Being avid runners, this group of individuals have taken up various marathons and challenges over the years, but now they are looking at the challenge to raise funds for Dover Park Hospice through their passion for running.
Dr Ong shares the motivation behind running for Dover Park Hospice: ‘The first time I did a posting at a Hospice, I felt it was very different compared to a hospital. Day in day out, we see the patients and their family, sit down with them, talk to them, and I realized that costs is a big concern for these patients and their families. Even though we are all very busy, we will still make the effort to sit down and talk to them. It is the appreciation from them that really keeps us going’'.
The team consists of:
- Dr Ong Eng Koon
- Dr Vaneesa Tan
- Ms Regina Ong
- Dr Sim Wen Yuan
- Dr Mok Shao Feng
- Dr Jean-Jasmin Lee
