Madam Sutiah was proud to call Dover Park Hospice home
Growing up along Punggol Jetty, the sea held a special place in her heart. During Madam Sutiah’s six month stay at the Hospice, she was able to reminisce her childhood and younger days, through our “Make-it-Happen” project that supports patients and their loved ones through difficult times and honours the wishes of our patients.
Expressing Gratitude through Art: Mdm Chew
Madam Chew Nak Nak @ Choo Guak Eng loved making art and her work has brought happiness to the people around her.
During her stay at Dover Park Hospice in December 2020, Madam Chew enjoyed the art therapy sessions and shared her thoughts behind her art with our Art Therapist
Being Supported At Home: Mr Tan
When Mr Tan Mia Hiok, a 65-year-old home care patient of Dover Park Hospice received news of his cancer in May 2019, he accepted it calmly.
A divorcee with no savings, Mr Tan lived in a two-room flat with his cousin. A happy-go-lucky person who took things positively in life, Mr Tan had worn many different hats. He was a karung guni man who bought and resold junk, a dishwasher, a cleaner, and a newspaper deliveryman during his younger days. He was also a cook during National Service. Mr Tan continued to find joy in cooking despite his illness. He cooked for himself and his cousin every day, with laska and curry being his best dishes.
